Yahoo! finally formally end the free web hosting services at GEOCITIES forever. All content is never displayed will be lost and will not be archiving.
"Beginning October 26 209, you can no longer use Geocities to manage online activities freely," the statement Yahoo!. In exchange, Yahoo! offers an upgrade to a premium hosting service with new features costs 4.99 U.S. dollars per month but no longer use the Geocities address.
This action can not suddenly stop because the announcement for the first time Geocities conducted in April and is set in July. Yahoo! also have provided a list of FAQs or frequently asked questions for Geocities users who want to save content for Yahoo! will delete all the existing content.
Geocities established since the mid-1990s and released to the public the first time in 1998. Yahoo! acquisition of Geocities in the year 1999 valued at 3.57 billion U.S. dollars. For more than ten years, Geocities has become one of the options generation of first web hosting including spam and malware spreaders.
Before Geocities, Yahoo! also have stopped a number of services such as Yahoo! 360 which is a blogging and networking service social networking Yahoo! Mesh. In exchange, Yahoo! now rely on a number of new services.
"We have other services designed to help you connect with friends and family and share the activities and interest," the statement Yahoo! before closing Geocities.
